The History of Dunn County’s Health Coalition

Health Dunn Right (HDR) is Dunn County’s Health coalition. The mission of the coalition is to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and our community within Dunn County through advocacy, collaboration, education, and peer support.

The idea for Health Dunn Right has been discussed since 2015 when the first Dunn County Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) was conducted through a survey that was sent out to community members; this survey helped us understand what the residents of Dunn County viewed as weaknesses! After all this data was taken and analyzed, the coalition came to life on July 16th, 2019 during a Community Health Coalition Conference held at UW-Stout! At this conference the results of the CHNA were revealed; this data was then used with community input to help create the County Health Improvement Plan. This improvement plan is a great starting point for the health disparities that the Action Teams will focus on

September of 2019 is when the five Action Teams began meeting monthly. These teams are made up of concerned citizens within our community, individuals who have lived experience relating to the team and those who are content experts. Having a variety of individuals at our meetings allows us to think about all sides of the health issues that we’re addressing!

A Health Dunn Right Steering Committee meets monthly to discuss how each team can be best supported, any current needs we see within the community, and any buisness items that affect the whole coalition. The Steering Committee is made up of the Co-Chairs from each Action Team and a few of the Community Partners who helped bring HDR to life!
